It took the Kings just seven minutes to dish the Canucks their fourth home-ice loss as Los Angeles scored three times on eight shots in the second period in a 4-2 win. The Canucks out shot, out hit and outperformed the Kings pretty much all game long, save for that disastrous stretch in the second.

"It seems we fall asleep for five minutes there and it kills us," said Ryan Kesler who set up both Canucks goals. "I thought we had a pretty good first period; we jumped all over them, we had momentum going in the second, and I think we just took it for granted. I think we fell asleep... That's the bottom line."

Jack Johnson, Mike Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov all beat Roberto Luongo in succession early in the second period after Matt Cooke had given Vancouver a 1-0 lead in the first. Mattias Ohlund made it close with six minutes left in the third snapping his second of the season over Jason LaBarbera's glove, but the Canucks could manage no more and drop under .500 with their fourth loss in their first seven games.

"It's a little bit surprising," said Brendan Morrison, who finished a minus-one on a line with Markus Naslund and Brad Isbister. "We want to be a difficult team to play at home and so far we haven't been. We haven't established any type home-ice presence yet and we're back to the drawing board."
