This is a video presentation by Weinlein and Dwyer that investigates Tim O'Brien's perspective of the Vietnam War through his work, The Things They Carried. Submitted for Mr. Mody's American Experience class at Burnt Hills HS. Please keep in mind that despite some of the content , this video (and all those connected to my account) is intended for use by primarily high school students. This means I will not approve comments with vulgarity or with questionable, derogatory, or inflammatory content.

You are free to comment on whether or not you like/agree with the video and/or the novel it is attempting to summarize. Criticism is fair game in my eyes, as long as it is insightful and in good taste. The old song used in this video was "This is War" by Smile Empty Soul, but WMG blocked it so it had to be changed to "Fade Away" by Seether from through YouTube's AudioSwap. It doesn't have anywhere near the same effect.

  • You and your video can shove it....Go to your local V.A. and show your video and tell them they fought a war without reason or a war that should have never happened. See if they let you leave!

  • @ToadsNSlugs Did you bother to read the description of what this video is about? It was what two students believed Tim O'Brien was trying to say in his book The Things They Carried. O'Brien is a Vietnam vet himself.

  • Most of my buddies from VietNam are gone - overdose, suicide, alcoholism, agent-orange-induced cancer, etc.. a few are in jail or prison. If there is anything good to say about that stupid war (or police action if you prefer) it is that it was universally condemned. War has become too popular in the last 20 or 30 years, so listen to this song with an open mind. You can still be against wars in general without being against the soldiers that you or your elected officials send to fight them.

What was the China's purpose of demonstration of the Nanking

    通州事件の記録写真と南京大虐殺の捏造

Though it is difficult for Chinese to accept these information, If Chinese have brave, please try watching. Certainly Japan attacked China. It is true. But please judge who they are kan race,Manchuria,国民党、共産党、軍閥militaly clique.

  • @Stalin1930 Didn't work did it? It had a reason but it was a stupid one. It featured objectives that could never be accomplished. Also, try using sentence structure so people can understand you and whats with the name? Do you seriously support Stalin?

  • That picture of the old women having a gun pointed to her head is sad. How can someone think of doing that!

  • Toads.......I believe you up til sentence 2. After that you lose ALL crediblity. To Serve is to serve, this is epic my friend, We should be very afraid. Cuz we'd be lucky to find 1 out of 10 who believe that now.

  • and now they repeat the same tragedy in Iraq

  • @ToadsNSlugs The US had no business meddling in the internal affairs of Vietnam in the first place. Those vets you mentioned were brainwashed by their superiors into believing that they were fighting for a reason. All under the guise of freedom.

  • btw, did you know that moses was a plagirist and stole the ten commandments from egypts religion to start with? compare with ancient egyptian scrolls.

  • And is happening again right now...........
