BustGunner Episode 01 Commentary

That's right, like everyone else I'm gonna do some commentary. Although, I've had this idea in mind for quite some time.
I always find myself enjoying a series more when I get to see the creator's thoughts on their work. For example, I never watched Berserk or Avatar Abridged until I saw their respective commentaries and how they felt about their own material. I was able to accept their faults since they saw them too and enjoy what they did. The great thing about YouTube is the open community and I'd love for people that enjoy my work to know what I think of it as well, since you all can tell me through comments, I rarely have the chance to other than the description box which I doubt people read. Like right now. If you read this put the word "prodigious" somewhere in your comment so I'll know. Ha, you don't have to. Yes you do.

I laughed when you complained about the pacing because that was the complaint I had about the pacing in my abridged episode for the same contest(That was the first time I ever attempted to act so please don't attempt to watch).

Heh, I've already seen it. I figured I was the only one that's heard of Guyver Dark Hero haha. But eh, first episode's a first episode. The pacing wasn't nearly as nightmarish as mine, I feel. I love your recent stuff too, so clearly you've made some progress.

I've always thought that most abridgers should redo their first episode so when new people come to see the series they don't judge it and ignore it, because of a weak intro episode. In this case you should redo it and make it a lot more prodigious, but only when u feel like you have got far enough to then go back again.

Hmm, that's definitely a possibility. I've considered it, but I don't know how much material I would change. I feel I've progressed a lot lately and the type of humor in episode one is a bit different than the later ones. I'd probably end up doing a mixture of both, but I would hope people would watch the commentary after seeing it to get my thoughts on it as well. Thanks for the tip, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

If you have fears of offending anyone, then make it so that its the CHARACTER that says the offending things is the offender, and lampoon the offender or have another character take a different stance. I mean, that's how villains are like in some stories, right? they hold a view engineered to disagree with the ignorant masses we call "mainstream audience" only to have the hero oppose them. The audience of course is not going to hate the show for having a hateful villain :P

I agree you have to keep some similarities, because many of the long running jokes are started from references of some kind, either quotations or just carrying on a character's personality, so as much as you could make the first episode 10 times funnier, you might to some extent isolate it from the rest of the series. However, this applies on a case by case basis, its not a general rule or anything. P.S thanks for the reply, that's the second time you have replied to me, woot!
