Local people created mini-parks in downtown Flint, MI parking spaces during National Park(ing) Day 2008, a national event designed to promote the value of our cities parks.

The idea originated in San Francisco, where artists set up short-term installations to draw attention to the citys need for more green space. Unlike San Francisco, the City of Flint has plenty of green space, with 64 public parks. Flint artists, engineers and landscape architects created mini-parks in parking spaces downtown on Friday, September 19 to celebrate our abundant green spaces.

  • That's cool! I never knew this took place!

  • That's a brilliant Idea. I didn't hear about that though and I LIVE in Downtown Flint. I guess I have to cruise the strip during the noon hour more often.

  • Awesome! More please. : )
