Nina creates improvisational songs using a harmonica and a piano for accompaniment. Thanks to Fatblueman for the harmonica, percussion egg and musical inspiration.
Background music: "Porch Blues" and "Plucky Daisy" by Kevin MacLeod at Incompetech. Used with permission. Check out all his music at:

  • I read that you won't be doing these much longer. ;_; I understand, but I'm sad. I just discovered your site & enjoy it so much! Nina is an inspiration. <3

Question for you Geof if you don't mind. Nina seems to speak very articulately in Japanese (and in English to actually) (I can only go by the subtitles that you post because I speak very little Japanese) Do you think the Japanese language is conducive to more formal speech even in children? I wish I had an example on hand to refer you to.

  • @linnifae I know what you're saying. Some of the "formal" sound in the Japanese subtitles could be because of the way I choose to interpret the Japanese, but sometimes she is using formal Japanese, which she learns at daycare. The difference between formal and casual Japanese is much more distinct than in English, where it depends more on the mood of the speaker than on the words themselves. Kids don't usually use formal Japanese, but when they do, they sound "adultish" in a cute way.

  • I love Nina's videos! I used to love "Move It" when I was four and I used to sing, "I like to move it moment!"

  • @geevinan ha ha It does sound like that.

  • somehow the way she performed the song reminds me of stevie wonder....

I'll be the first one to buy your album nina!! :D :D

  • @amazinglyalien ha ha Yeah, I guess I can see the Stevie Wonder comparison.
