Ringgold F4 Tornado Footage 04-27-11

This is the F4 Tornado that demolished and leveled Ringgold Georgia. Several Business, Ringgold High School and many homes leveled and flattened. Death toll at the time of this writing is 15 and expected to be more. Ringold.

Here's what happened.

My son (Chase) and I were heading North on I-75. A small funnel cloud formed passed behind us 100 yards away. I was amazed as it quickly develop into a tornado that appeared to be a quarter or half mile wide. The popping and explosions I heard seemed like a war zone inside as transformer after transformer blew. Just heard that there were already 2-3 deaths reported as it ripped through downtown Ringgold by the time I got home 10 minutes later. This video was taken 1 mike south of the of the 2A exit. Winds 50+ knots gust heading north east. My son just happened to notice a transformer blow to our left. If we had been on the interstate 5 seconds later, we would have been thrown from the road and probably not have seen it.

I am the one who shot the video. Reflecting on it now, I'll be honest that I did not know what I was even looking like when it hit. Based on other witness account, I found that the wall of gray was not a sheet of rain, but and F4 tornado that was already fully developed before it crossed the interstate. The Tornado was at the edge of the interstate when my son and I drove past it. So I can see why it took so many by surprise. Being on the interstate, there was no where to go.

i live in Whitfield county right across county line and i talked to a State trooper who was first on scene and he said a power-line wrapped around his spotlight around his car and you could see the scratches on his patrol car

I was on vacation in Florida when it hit. Kinda scary to watch the national news and see a reporter standing on Highway 41 talking about a tornado about to hit.
