Mast Track was lone speed in this race, facing a bunch of closers. And Frankel stole the '91 Gold Cup with Marquetry going wire-to-wire, paid $56.80.
That day, the previous three races had been won wire-to-wire, so I knew they'd souped the cushion track for the Gold Cup and it was favoring speed. I had some angles.
I never had a doubt as Baze nursed Mast Track through those easy early fractions, then started extending the lead going into the far turn.

Good job by brad free and others. Bobby frankel the master lone speed. A lot of people saw this one going wire to wire.
