The wonderfully talented G.C. Cameron, who has been credited with having six different voices, joined the Spinners at Motown in time to sing lead on the original version of this classic hit song, "It's A Shame". When The Spinners left Motown to join Atlantic Records in 1971, G.C. remained with the company as a solo artist, enjoying five single releases on Motown's West Coast label, Mowest, and then eight more singles on the Motown label itself, including a duet with Syreeta, "Lets Make A Deal". There were also three albums released by Motown. Being married to Berry Gordy's sister, Gwen, made G.C. an important member of the Motown family. Since leaving Motown, G.C. released a much respected album on the Malaco label, and a much loved independant single on Paul Mooney's Ardent label, before recording for Motorcity between 1989 and 1992. In 1989 he topped the bill of our TV show in Detroit, in conjunction with Kelly and Company. G.C. released four singles on Motorcity, this one, our remake of his Spinners classic "It's A Shame", followed by"Good Times Up Ahead", "No Need To Explain" and his duet with Martha Reeves, "You're All I Need To Get By", and we also released two albums, "Right Or Wrong", and "The Best Of G.C. Cameron". A truly marvellous talent.

  • Mr. Spintations (GC): I love how someone called you an "older man" in this string. I bet you wish you were as "old" now as you were then! :-) (Although I just checked out your MySpace & you're still HOT HOT!!) I can't tell for sure when this clip was made. '89? The T.V. show in Detroit that the poster mentioned? Anyway, happy early BD! (Mine's two days after yours but you have about 15 years on me.)

P.S. Can't stop watching this clip. Hope to see you in person one day. You're awesome

  • i agree, he is just smooth, no need to shout and go crazy, just smooth vocals

  • couldnt be more on point, awesome

  • This guy is raw talent - can sing live and still hit pitch to perfection- this is soul!!!!!!

  • Singers who can touch my soul with their amazing gift and actually bring tears of joy to my eyes are rare ... G.C. is one of the few. When I listen to this version of the song it sends shivers through me, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I end up smiling SO huge that I couldn't speak if I tried. THANK YOU for bringing so many such joy, G.C.

  • G.C. is KILLING those vocals!

Also, that is one kick-booty instrumental of "It's a Shame!"

  • I heard this song on the Bernie Mac show a couple years ago. Been in my head since. Takes me back to the day when singers knew how to sing...I mean REALLY sing.

  • WHYYYYYYYYYYY do u use meeeeee whyyyyyy to confuse meee...how much can i get for your vocals
