Just a quick video I put up to showcase a bizarre situation I ran into in Super Robot Wars 3 for the SNES, with the AGTP English patch.

Kou Uraki, star of Stardust Memories, doesn't have a very good mobile suit, if you even get it. The Gundam Mk. II, the Gundam Alex NT-1, the Z Gundam and the Dijeh SE-R all run cirlces around his pathetic GP-01, and to make matters worse, Kou isn't a very good pilot. And he starts at a low level, being a recruit. AND you lose whatever upgrades you make to the GP-01 when you go into space (apparently adding thrusters in Gundam makes the unit brand new!).

Eventually, I gave up and put him in a unit that doesn't suck, but now it seems that the Random Number Gods won't let Kou hit ANYTHING. It says he has a 28% percent to hit there, but from what I'm guessing is a quirk in how "random" numbers are generated (usually computers use the current time or player actions to generate "random" numbers, which aren't random but can be recreated), Kou Uraki can NEVER hit that unit. After 30 tries with savestates, he never hit it.

If Kou's end game unit wasn't the godlike GP-03 (and you thought Wing Zero was overkill!), I wouldn't bother with all this. It's like God really hates poor Kou.

  • I've found even Kai more useful then Kou.

atleast Kai has the Luck sprirt.

  • Kou's just not useful in a game filled to the brim with Newtypes, especially if you go on the Titans route and get a bunch of Newtypes with funnel-capable MSes. He probably wouldn't be as bad in another game, though. Just that late in the game, even Kamille in the Zeta Gundam can't keep up, Kou never has a chance.

As for Kai: well, he rocks. Kai with Luck and the Methuss seems like a good combination, until you get a surplus of UC ace characters.

  • This game generates a new RNG table every time you start or continue a scenario. Save states preserve the RNG table which is why you'll get the same result every time. It's not the same thing as hitting the reset button.

  • He's much better in the rest of the Alpha series. I found Alpha 1 underwhelming in the fact that most of my Super Robots took like 10 damage from normal enemies. I wish there was more niche for Super Robots and Real Robots. Although in that game once enemy pilots had Potential or what not activated, my Real Robots couldn't do more than 10 damage to them.

  • Sorry for being a noob, but could someone explain to me how to patch the game properly with the translation?

  • Kou in SRT A (gba) and Alpha & Alpha Gaiden (PSX) is good i'm using it till now.

but Kou in the Original Series till F Final is SUCKS.

as you said, he can't hit any unit. even the weakest ones.

  • Don't worry he becomes A MAN OF DESTINY the moment you get the GP03

  • Where can I download this ROM?

I have the English patch but no ROM.

  • I need to find a game that works with the patch? Can you help me out?

ALSO I had NO idea that you can switch pilots around. Though I've been happy with keeping Amuro in VGundam and everyone else in their stuff. Yeah I can't read Japanese.

  • Indeed.

Atleast Kai's Luck sprirt is helpful for those darn high price upgrades.(which i put kamille in that GP-03 mech)

Still trying to find a usful Mech for Kai since i keep on hacing him switch between alot of mechs
