From Wikipedia:

Known for documentaries dealing with life in the Muslim world, Obaid became the first non-American to win the Livingston Award.[1] Her films have aired on such networks as Channel 4, CNN, PBS, and Al-Jazeera.

Obaid began her career with New York Times Television in 2002 where she produced Terror's Children, a film about Afghan refugee children, which won her the Overseas Press Club Award, the American Women and Radio and Television Award, and the South Asian Journalist Association Award.[1] Since then, she has produced and reported on more than twelve films around the world.

Obaid produced and reported on four multi-award winning documentary films for New York Times Television. In 2003, Reinventing the Taliban was awarded the Special Jury Award at the BANFF TV festival in Canada, the CINE Golden Eagle Award, the American Women in Radio and Television award, and the Livingston Award.[1] In 2005, her film Women of the Holy Kingdom, which provided an inside look at the women's movement in Saudi Arabia, won the South Asian Journalist Association Award.[1]

In 2005, Obaid began working with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom reporting on four films for their Unreported World series. Pakistan's Double Game looked at sectarian violence in Pakistan, City of Guilt explored the Catholic Church's pro-life movement in the Philippines, The New Apartheid looked into growing xenophobia in South Africa, and Birth of a Nation delved into the politics of East Timor. In 2007, Obaid was named "journalist of the year" by the One World Media awards for her work in the series.

In 2007, Obaid travelled to Afghanistan and reported for Channel 4 and CNN. Her film, Afghanistan Unveiled/Lifting the Veil, focuses on stalled reconstruction and the repression of women in the country.

  • You are right @achina cultural practices and traditions should be blamed, but man also should not use his translation of the Quran and tout it as Divine Law., knowing full well it is mans law. Therein lies the problem.

  • its not Islam that allows such devious acts to take place but rather the lack of education. and dont act like the rest of the world is free of sin either.

  • This woman is confirmed propagandist by winning the award now.

  • @robertmike57 Quran always remembered by heart and even now millions of people remember it by heart in the world .Quran is word of God in total with no mistake at all.Bring yr evidence if u have got any. Do not insult by using harry potter example as u know what we meant is not addressed by u here,u r total out of touch here.

  • @faran2424 swearing and changing the topic, great arguments.

  • @ARHanjrah I made no claim the Koran was not the word of God, merely pointed out the most important invention of mankind came from a Catholic that made to possible to produce a billion Korans. It's my understanding that the Koran has been altered over time in it's early history, but there is nothing remarkable about the Koran being unchanged. 1500 years from now, Harry Potter books will be unchanged from what they are today.

  • @MsTania66 faran2424 is typical of Muslims who attempt to deflect responsibility for their religion with irrelevant comments about drone strikes on a video like this.

  • @faran2424 I think she's obviously more concerned over women;s rights but if you feel so strongly about that then maybe you should make a documentary

  • @robertmike57..... well this is your belive the it is not word of God not a fact... can u name any other book which has not been changed for such a long time? anyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy one

  • @ARHanjrah The printing press was invented in 1453 by Catholic Johannes Gutenberg. This has enabled Korans being available free 658 years later. With the exception of hand written manuscripts, a Koran is simply words made possible to you from a Catholic, not from God. This is a matter of fact, not faith. I appreciate hearing from you, but my heart breaks where such Islamic blind faith causes hate.

  • @robertmike57 SOME QURAN BEING BURNT! this act might not be a big in ur faith.... but burning even single word of God means to Muslims.... what do u say on such an act if u belived that Quran is a word God

  • its like a black comedy that this pakistani liberal bitch is highlighting an issue in the country where a superpower is ruling by its military allys and in doing so killed hundred of thousands of innocent people...including the ones killed in pakistani tribal area in drone attacks..this bitch will never make a documentary on aafia siddiquie because she will never expose west..
