One of this series' greatest moments! This is a clip from "The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show". It comes from the episode 'Free Trip to Hawaii' which was the first episode of the third season, originally aired on October 9, 1952. Like all episodes of this series, this too is in the public domain.
What's going on in this clip? Gracie Allen is trying to get her friend/announcer Harry Von Zell to marry her wardrobe woman just so they could both get a free trip to Hawaii. Gracie's husband, George Burns, knows that the wardrobe woman is already married, with children, but plays along because he's looking for story ideas for their TV show. It's a rather intricate plot, like all episodes of this series.
What cracked me up the first time I saw it is when Gracie broke into her little hula dance routine with George Burns singing. That is just SO funny!

So glad to find this clip. Gracie's HULA cracks me up. What set her and Lucille Ball apart from most is how gracefully and assuredly they moved - especially their hands. Gracie Allen started out in vaudeville as a dancer (with her sister), so body movement and rhythm would have probably been second nature to her. I love to watch Gracie and Lucille Ball handle "props" - they both knew how to do it superbly. Thank you for posting this.
