  • it should say stride piano, not ragtime piano

  • I suppose so, James. I was also at Manassas that year and Dick was listed on the program as playing "Ragtime Solos" It was Sunday afternoon.

So let's say that this is a Ragtime selection played by a stride pianist?? Thanks for viewing.

  • Wow - WOW - W O W ! Phenomenal ! Luvit!

  • Tom, I'll be posting another unusual video shortly than I think you will like..Kenny Davern remarked that Dick was one of the most under-recorded pianists.

  • Thanks for your reply. - I'll be watching!

  • @bkgangstapianist Dick Wellstood died way before his time. He was well loved and is dearly missed.

  • @jwellstood I'm his daughter too and I have DIMPLES!

  • I LOVE this video!

  • @75egcg

    I'm his daughter and I stand 6'2

  • One of the best players I heard. Check out his version on Mule walk.

Too few Wellstood clips on Youtube. Guess he was too early.

  • who are you a fan of that your speaking to? Dick Wellstood is dead...

    And this is deff stride

  • I agree, I would give my right arm to play ragtime or stride!

  • sorry that's what you had to see for one of the latest comments on your caprice rag video of Dec. 1978. I've been a long time fan of your work since i found you on youtube when i was in highschool. I'm a huge fan of ragtime.

  • That's an interesting take on my last name....

  • Isn't it interesting that when people hear stride being played, they always want to start playing it themselves? As for me I've been chasing it for 40 years now. My hands limited me.
