UK MUSLIM TURKISH KURD GUILTY OF HONOUR KILLING

Guilty of honour killing. Mehmet Goren 49, a Muslim Turkish Kurd was convicted of murder today at the Old Bailey in London. His victim, his own 15 year old daughter Tulay. Goren who strongly disapproved of his daughter's relationship with factory worker Halil Unal a man twice her age and from a different Muslim group, considered that his daughter's relationship brought dishonour to his family. Tulay Goren's body was never found. Goren will serve a minimum of 22 years in jail.

Thanks for mentioning that the Goren familiy are Alevis and they are indeed different. However, Shi'ite Alevis are a sect / branch of Islam. Although they are different to Sunnis, Shi'ite Alevis are still technically considered as Muslims.
