On Saturday April 19th at the 63rd Annual Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, California we were entertained by FACE (Free Artist Creative Equestrians) which is an equestrian vaulting club committed to representing the best their performance has to offer. Lead by the current national champion and former world champion, Devon Maitozo, FACE is a club that teaches vaulting and fields teams of individuals at every level of competition. This is an exciting year for FACE. Two teams are looking forward to competing internationally this summer, with the goal of bringing home a medal from the World Championships in the Czech Republic and building upon their silver medal win in Aachen '06. FACE will be debuting the team, Freesyyles, which will be performing at competitions this season with a tribute to the music of Pink Floyd.

You can get away having your horse four beating in team because everyones horse four beats in team. but it does lower your horse score.
What I gather from various conversations I've had with various coaches and trainers on the subject is that the judges are scoring your horse on the same things a Dressage Judge would be scoreing him/her on in the canter.

Four beating is desirable in vaulting, it makes (especially team events) much easier on both vaulters and the horse. I am unsure as to why this horse was so afraid of the place, our horses are always described as the most bomb-proofed. This looks somewhat like Lorenzo, but I don't think it's him, if it is, he isn't normally used for team events if I remember correctly. I agree, the horse made this performance more difficult, and they did miss some of their moves, but they haven't practiced this.

how so? he's four-beating a litte but other than that I thought he carried the team very well. And even the german team horses do that...

This looks like so much fun. In my next life I want to be athletic enough to do this. They did very well, and I thought the horse was really cooperating, given this was their first exhibition in such a packed arena. Good job, thanks for sharing!
