This beautiful two-story adobe structure near Cabezon won't be around much longer. A strong wind seemed determined to push it over the morning I visited with friends. I placed a microphone inside the building, on the lower floor (you can see it in the interior shot in this slideshow), and captured the eerie soundscape as the wind crept through every opening. What's left of an upper-story metal deck bangs as it twists in the wind...such a lonely and haunting sound. Wild horses came to check things out; they're in a couple of the photos. This structure was on private property, but we had permission to be there.
This is great... Wind noise on its own kinda falls flat. It has to be ripping through something- such as this old building,or pylons/power cables, trees etc.... :)
