  • He's right, there are no super volcanos in Iceland, come on, there's only a handful of the big ones. Eruptions in Iceland have however caused damage to crops in Western-Europe before, but the ragnarök that the Fox News blonde gagged on, is not something we need to worry about.

    Hoticecup mentions Víti which is a crater about 150m across, formed in a steam explosion, as part of Askja's 1875 eruption. It pales in significance to Askja.

    A super volcano? WTF?!

    Learn your geology Hoticecup...

  • Turkey pretty much already said it. Iceland is a hotspot with a lot of volcanic activity, but it is NOT the site of a supervolcano.

  • Super volcanoes like I said before are massive sites where eruptions have a scale of V8 or more I wanna say, its like the tornado scale and it goes up by epicness by 1 point to 10.

    1 being... hawaiian pohohoe flow... to 10,

    A eruption that basically ENDED 9/10ths of the human population. You and I are descendants of that 1/10th percent that survived that eruption around the world. Yeah... not exactly pleasant. Not only that but it probably brought about the ice age.

  • Um... vesivious isn't a super volcano.

    Maybe the mud pits around it are, like where that roman spa area is, but vesivious is your typical strata volcano like mount saint helens.

    Also Just because a island has a whole bucket load of volcanoes doesn't make it a super volcano. Thats like saying the indoneasian islands and the west coast of america are super volcanoes. It kinda degrades the meaning of "Super volcano."

  • well....... sure Yellowstone, Vesuvius and Toba are super volcano's.... as well as Snæfellsjökull, Öræfajökull, Víti, Askja, Katla and you can find all of them in Iceland

    if so many super volcano's are in such a small country i would say that it is one huge volcano,plush with all kinds of volcano's in the world, you can find them evrywhere in Iceland

    i mean if you would dig 5 meters down in the ground the water starts to get warm

  • Iceland equals super volcano?

    Alright... you have no clue what a super volcano is.

    Super volcanoes are giganatic caldera's with giganatic magma chambers of epic preportions. And when they erupt, they end eras and cause mass extinction events.

    Yellowstone = super volcano.

    Toba = super volcano.

    Iceland= island on midalantic ridge with reverse block action + maybe a hotspot with alot of volcanoes. Not a super volcano!
