But when you get SICK enough to need medical care, it's a drain on society.
You're probably a willing participant of control already: fast food commercials, the protein myth, food pyramid, flu shots, etc

On rare occasions, organic is the same, or less, than conventional. So it is happening.....at least here in CA.
Get into Farmers markets. There's some organic, and at half the cost!! ("Denio's in Sacramento!)

I have worked on both sides of the border... Canadian system has flaws, but it's miles better compared to the US. Any system is flawed government or not.
I picked my excellent doctor, our obesity rates are much lower, all our health standards starts are better than you, 0 deaths from non coverage (compared to 3000 a year in the states). We make our own health choices, but are encouraged by our government and doctors to live better.

Anyone who is interested in the truth about the proposed Health Care bill can easily read it via a link I have posted in the comment section of my profile. Find out the truth for yourselves instead of relying on fear tactics and such. Thanks.

You may not want to talk about it, but that's the reality - gov control. And it's gov control that allows the moneyed interests to push all the buttons. I know Canadians living here that don't want anything to do with their system of health care. What I don't buy into is gov control of my life, and my decisions about my health care. That's what works for me and what is cost effective for me. I'm the single payer, paying for me, not for you, by you, or up to you.

Look, no one is talking about some neo con fantasy about goverment "control". The monied interests are trying to scare people like you in me away from what actually works and is cost effective. Single Payer. I know professional expatriates living here, and believe me, the universal coverage they have in Canada, France and the UK is 10,000 times better. It may not be perfect, no system is, but it's cheaper and everyone is covered. And they have complete choice.

Very nice insights in points of view.
Its refreshing to have people see through imposed lies and acknowledge truths.

Open your eyes. The insurance companies have so much control precisely because the gov has sold out to them. Do you really expect the gov to do you any favors when it comes to your health care?! There is no such thing as a gov run non-profit system. I simply do not support any system that forces me to participate. I'm sick and tired of gov interference in my life. My life is my responsibility, not yours or anyone else. Don't expect me to jump for joy because you buy into this nonsense.
Taxes on junk food at the state level is okay idea but keep the federal government out. They shouldn't intrude on the state rights. They have gained too much power since their 9/11 attack.

These men, Dr. Saputo and Byron Belitsos, are on the right track and I hope many cities will follow their example. I agree on taxing junk food and I totally agree that schools need to serve only nutritious food. Kids can bring lunch from home if they choose, but Mom and Dad will pay high prices for their junk. We pack our kids organic food because the school food is unhealthy, but WE are paying the high price because organic food is more expensive. It should be the other way around.
