MacPherson's Lament on Violin

This is an old fiddle tune called "MacPherson's Lament". It's not my favorite, nor the best one I play, because I was going to play "Hard Times", but started on the wrong note so I just played this. But, I was bored tonight, and sorry for the beginning, but iMovie wasn't letting me get it in there to edit it, so I just posted it. When I have a better one I'll take this down and post that, but for now, enjoy! :)

Not bad! James McPherson was my Grandfather several times removed he was hanged in Banff (Scotland ) in 1700 Look him up in Wikipedia for the full story

You did a great job!! Your fiddle has a really good tone, not too bright or too dark but just perfect. Now I'm curious-what strings do you use, and do you have a favorite rosin?

@unionfiddler thanks! These are my older strings...I don't remember what they are. But the E string wore out fairly quickly--I now have gone with a gold coated one.

i played this for a concert with my orchestra last year and we did good just a few mistakes on the notes but ur rely good :)

Could've used vibrato for sure. It was too much of a raw sound. But over good rhythm and tempo. This is definitely one of my favorite songs to play.
