@lowrida82 I disagree. I personally don't like the concept of hate crime. Why? Because all violent crimes are hate crimes whether their is racial motivation behind it or not. Splitting our society up into groups like hate crime legislation is doing does nothing but keep the black community in a position where young men like Derrion Albert become statistics.

Just to clarify,I mean to opine that Jesse Jackson DOES make a VERY valid point about this being a 'hate crime'-For the plain,simple reason that,according to the "homeboys, thugs & gangstas":If you study hard, make straight A's and strive for excellence, and you're a Black person-then you're a "sellout"-"acting white",and "an embarrassment to the race".These so-called "bruhs" are So resentful if they see ANY of their peers/schoolmates go against the grain and be all that they aren't.

I beg ta differ with ya, m8...but I feel Jackson *does* make a vaild pint & it's *not* about "race"; You see, nowadays, Black kids that show ambition & try to excel in The USA are derided by their peers as 'acting White'. did you notice jesse jackson injecting 'hate crime' into his speech as if to imply that derrion's death was somehow ultimately 'whitey's fault; since the term 'hate crime' is only used to describe white on other races crime to people like jackson? has any reason d was killed even been made public? maybe it was just a wild brawl and d just happened to get targeted.
