  • Its based on a book called '1984' where its an alternate view on society where people are under control to the max. I believe this advert is making the launch of macs a symbolism of freedom.

  • this is an extremely clever advertising campaign. it is making a reference to the book 1984 by george orwell (eric blair), a sci-fi novel about the future in 1984. it was written in 1948, hence the 1984 (just switching the last two numbers).
