If you want to tie it say, to a tree, take a corner, put a small stone in it around 2 inches in, then wrap the corner over the stone and tie it with a length of cordage. It is called a button tie
I hope this helps

You can cut a small strip to tie around your head to cover the eyes to make sunglasses to help prevent snow blindness.

with the uncolored space blankets, you have to be careful which side you use. the aluminum side will reflect heat much better than the mylar side. so you have to look really close, because you want the aluminum side toward you.
there are space blankets that have colored mylar (usually gold colored) which are much better. with these you just face the colored side away from you.
does it break easily?

@Biter27 Not if you are careful.

Nice demo. Does it matter which side of the blanket to cover yourself with when you need to keep yourself warm? Thanks!

@knowledgeispowerfful I have not found any difference in the 2 sides.

I was wondering how you would hang that without grommets. Ingenious.
If the lean to is in the wind, how tough is that mylar?

@enjoythewildUSA The mylar is not the end all shelter. In my opinion it works best to supplement a natural shelter. The material if pretty tough until it gets a hole or tear, After that it is all over but the crying.
