I understand what was being said & it so typical of Japanese culture that the woman had to ask her male boss for permission to leave the building. In the west, we would have made that decision for ourselves.

@Coolboy81 She said the shaking is strong, and it's scary, and she kept asking if they shouldn't go outside. The guy checked the internet and told her that the earthquake had happened in Miyage-ken, and that it's a 6, that there was a tsunami warning. She said the boats were moving. In the end he said that it was 'shindo nana' (7 on the Japanese scale.) He said it was okay to stay inside. My Japanese isn't fantastic, but that's what I could gather. :)

I don't understand Japanese, but I figured that the guy went on the net after the shake to look up if a tsunami warning was issued and the woman turned her camera at the harbour to look for waves. But seeing as this probably was much further down south (Tokyo?), there were no waves, they only felt the tremors as the tsunami struck the coast further up north.

With the light fixtures swinging around wildly overhead like that, I would NOT continue to just sit in a chair smiling. One of those hitting you on the head, and the bulb breaking on your scalp, would be serious.
