Minecraft: How to Build an Automatic "Sugar Cane" Farm

This is how I build my automatic sugar cane farm in minecraft singleplayer tutorial. You can click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xWpt8do238 If you would like to see how it works :)

Things You'll Need:
- Bucket of Water
- Dirt Blocks
- Shovel (preferably diamond)
- Glass
- Sugar canes/reed

Time that it will take to build: 15-20 Minutes (not that long)

Procedures:

Step 1: Find a hill/slope then square it off

Step 2: Use a shovel to dig a "Trench"

Step 3: Make sure you're your rows aren't too far from each other or else the water system will not supply the dirt block with water and therefore reed/sugar cane cannot grow. (Make sure you have two rows of dirt blocks, then seperate with a "trench")

Step 4: Use glass to organize your farm and so that water can easily be seperated

Step 5: Then contruct a tower by placing 5 blocks ontop of each other also place ladders so you can easily climb up or down... Place glass around the dirst block, Then place a dirt block and after place your bucket of water (source block) ontop of the dirt block.

Step 6: Next, we're going to make the "switch" so that you can either force water to travel down the water system or flush the mini sugar cane blocks.

Step 7: Follow along in the video because the rest of the steps are difficult to explain with words

@Mar9448 if i understand correctly, you put it on the grass between the glass covered channels. you keep the top water blocked off until you are ready to harvest. when you release it, it will carry the sugar cane to the bottom of the hill. in theory anyway, ive never built this. my own sugar cane farm is piston based
