The whole audience laughed when I saw this in the cinema. But I'd still LOVE to have been a rich young stud in 1930s Hollywood...spending Father's money on booze and working through the beautiful starlets

Agreed, the best part of The Aviator! What an unusual way to film this, having the singer stand up into the frame! Makes me positively giddy every time I see it! The three members of the Wainwright family -- father, brother, and sister -- each perform musical numbers in this film, representing scenes and styles in three different decades. They must be very proud to have been part of this magnificent movie.

OP here, I thought it was like Rufus Wainwright's Dad? I remember looking into when I first posted this.
