Cleantech and social media consumers (www.cleantechms.com) both are often early adopters of technology. One of the basic tenets of tech marketing is that products do not spread by word of mouth once the early market is tapped out. This happens because pragmatists don't like what early market consumers have to say. A sound social media marketing and PR strategy for cleantech must account for the fact that the Social Web broadcasts information far and wide. With cleantech and social media, there is a communication breakdown that is compounded, because cleantech is so contentious. As such, it is critical that social media marketers at cleantech companies understand how the content brand discussions relates to the tech adoption curve.
