I think AX2000 is better than CX500. i compare the stablization, details, color and white balance. For me, the AX2000's color is more nature than CX500.
This is an excellent test. The CX500 did extremely well considering its huge price gap between it and the AX2000. I believe the blown-out of the vertical neon( or LED?) sign in the background might be or partly be because of the difference in the exposure levels with the exposure on the CX500 being set slightly higher.

Is it true that you cannot set exposure to full manual on the AX2000; that the camera will always set the exposure in auto?

Look at the LED signs in the back
CX500 only shows white but AX2000 shows the red as well
