A student of Adolfo's masterclass is an excellent organist and tried the famous Widor toccata in an unequal temperament - it might have been Meantone or we might have switched to D'Alembert - sorry I don't remember - taking advantage of the facilities of the Hammerwood Park organ.

  • I think this must be Meantone tuning - it's pretty pungent!

  • tuning? love the pedal tones though!

  • The whole point of this was to test the tuning. I have half a feeling this might have been meantone but someone might comment who knows. My favourite unequal temperament is Kellner.

Search "Barabino student demonstrates Meantone organ temperament" for some wonderfully mediaeval sounds from this instrument. The organ has been built for versatility,. experimentation and interesting tonal experiences.
