wow, what an incredibly great powerful voice Baker had. this is fantastic. i just learned that the song was written by the great Jewish songwriting team of the rock 'n roll era, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. how did they get it so right?

I met Ms. Baker at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, when she closed the show with "Saved" Perhaps one of the best shows I've ever been too.

I was about 12 years old and she invited me backstage (upstairs) to meet most of the other performers- It was so easy-she was so down to earth, when she introduced me to the band-announcing "Well boys, we got black peas and rice, and pig feet"

I will never forget this underrated woman and her tremendous talent!
