More accurately, the finish does not tarnish, the microthin gold plating will dissolve and rub off over time, lol. (approximately 3 years if you just take it out to show people it every now and then lol... cheap crap) The alloy is like, this nickle-pewter-led crap... lol Also. they get scratched REALLY easily, don't put it in yer pocket, even empty, cotton will scratch them to death. My polywhirl chipped upon contact with some sunglasses, lol.

I had one of each... but i opened em, played with em, broke the balls by throwing them outside playing with friends. Also, they we're $4.99 each. 23k gold plated(roughly 60 cents worth of materials in all(including the ball). They have increased in value over the past 13 years, by 3-5 dollars depending on which pokemon.
