Gualala Arts honored the dear departed - and the future departed (that's all of us) - in an afternoon of music and classic south-of-the-border treats at their first Day of the Dead Festival. Admission was free.
There was an evening of Los Caporales mariachis in their finery along with the local Folkloric Dancers bringing the spirit of Mexico to Gualala between 3:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2. Everyone also also enjoy Mole Poblano and Mexican Tamales (prices range from $3 to $8 for singles to full plates). Just to let the dead know what they're missing, Mexico's famous beers were poured, as well as local brews. A tradition was begun of building private altars and art altars.
