  • for future reference this truck is called a m1070

  • And the trailer is M1000.

  • why not let 2 tanks on a trailer,,,

    save space and save time

  • Mainly because you couldn't haul a load like that off-road. These are primarily off-highway vehicles and with the weight of one it's hard enough to keep going.

  • were do u get the film??

  • I took the video in El Paso, Texas

  • @soberek yep an up armored HET and empty M1000 weight out at 1000,000 pounds almost on the dot. thats nice since a M984A1E1 (my favorite) or A2/4 hemtt wrecker has a GCVW of 155,000 lbs. but they were tested to tow a fully loaded het at over 250,000 lbs. hemtt's wreckers are beasts. never really got to load mine out just grossed 100,000 with it. hardly noticed it though

  • @shive0694 I ask myself that almost all the time. It would be pretty amazing seeing something like an M60A1 travel highway speeds with little pad wear and high fuel efficeincy, for a mbt of course, which would be a bit over a mile to a gallon. Would certainly get the crews of the vehicles acquinted to their vehicles, and would also serve, almost, as a preperation for war if you think of how M1s followed the highways and roads all the time.

  • @PontiacVentura98 m1070 het (heavy equipment transport) truck

  • Now they are fast. Really. 45 Mph is a lot for 90 tons of steel. This truck with an M1A2 on board weighs almost three times what a standard 18-wheeler do. I'd love to see a fully-loaded brake test. Or this thing smashing trough a house.

  • what are those kind of trucks

  • @shive0694 its more expensive driving the tanks to the destonation. the abrams tank is a very thirsty beast when its operating. hauling them on trailers save gas money and extends the life on tank tracks. driving a 70 ton tank on the interstate is much different than driving a 10 or 15 ton mack truck.

  • i used to drive one of those!

  • @shive0694 They also eat fuel like candy. It gets .6 miles per gallon on JP-8 jet fuel.

  • @shive0694 because the weight of the vehicles would destroy the roads. the m1a2 abrams weighs close to 70 tons, the 5th vehicle, the m88a1 weighs close to 60 tons. and the final 4 vehicles are m577 which weighs roughly 13 tons. The tracks were designed to let them move over soft surfaces such as mud and sand.

  • Why don't they just drive the tanks...?
