Nice video. Q: which option would you recommend for "cheap macro"? The 100mm lens or 50-255mm Canon is good enough? thanks

I thought the example you used was cool! Cool fish.

Thanks for all the comments everybody !! ;)
I was using the Canon 24-105mm, and it does not compare to real Macro lens by any means. It is a very nice cheap alternative though. I would get a dedicated Macro if you can afford it, but for $50 US you can try the Tube out and see if it works for you, before you make the investment on a Macro lens. Besides, it's a nice tool to have in the camera bag for other lenses that have limited minimum focus distance!!

Is it true that you can only use manual focus with these tubes?

@WhiteTrashSingers
Some lenses work, but it's often easier to use manual. I like using the 135mm f/2 with a25mm extension tube and autofocus. Perfect for flowers and stuff. more magnification than that though and the depth of field is paper thin.

Hey man which is better. The Canon EF25 II Extension Tube or the Kenko 12+ 20+ 36mm Tubes????
Im using it for my EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM on a 50d body.
I passed on the Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5x for it is only used for macro photography. I'm looking for a close substitute.I chose a lens that can also shoot telephoto. So i opted for a EF 100mm f/2.8L . I just dont know which lens is better. the Canon or the Kenko ext tubes

@oneyedthing The Canon has a slightly better finish than the Kenko, but I would go with the kenko set of 3!! There is no glass in the tubes, just an empty tube.
Good choice on lens!! Can't go wrong with either, but as you said the EF 100 is alos a killer Prime.
