This is my short piece with my Panasonic AF100 on the world famous folk artist Leonard Knight. For over 30 years he has lived in the middle of the desert east of the Salton Sea building a monument out of adobe, house paint and odd junk found in the desert. He lives in a small cabin on the back of a broken down flatbed truck with no water, electricity or comforts.

Upon speaking with him you feel his love for all of humanity and that his message is a simple and universal one.

  • your work is more than live its living love

  • Leonard, I have known you since I was a child, we will miss you!!!!! You will ALWAYS be remembered as Salvation Heart!

  • Just last week, Knight was hospitalized. According to reports, he was suffering from cognitive issues. He was placed in observation for 72 hours and then subsequently released to a long-term care facility with a diagnosis of dementia.

If Leonard's friendship, art or message has touched your life, won't you take a moment to send him a note of gratitude, love and support? You can send him a card or letter to:

  • Very cool!.. I just got back from a bike ride there today.

  • I love the tempo, the message, the music. All around great camera and editing work. Looks like just the sunshine was used to light Leonard.

  • Very nice documentary, great quality and camera work. the subject is quiet interesting but it was more interesting all the painting he did aroung where he lives. just curios about the lighting used on the subject. he seems to have a very high contrast and dark shade. his eyes look dark kind of contrasting what he is talking about but other than that excellent.
