Fox News 11 Interview with Dr. Lorrie Klein about her use of Lumigan (now available as Latisse) to help grow eyelashes. Lumigan was originally a drug developed by Allergan for use in treating Glaucoma. But Dr. Klein very quickly realized that it could be used for eyelash growth and her patients using it have enjoyed longer and fuller eyelashes every since.

Dr. Klein wasn't alone in her findings however as independent manufacturers have been using the drug Bimatoprost, which is the generic name for Lumigan, in products they are calling eyelash conditioners. Under pressure from the FDA last fall however they changed their formulas or have been taken off the market.

  • I'm not sure if Latisse will be available in the UK. You can contact Allergan in Irvine, CA and they can probably give you more information.

  • Comment to PuppzLover:

Once you discontinue using Latisse (or Lumigan or any eyelash growth product) your lashes will return to their normal length and thickness. It usually takes a few weeks before they start to go back.

  • Use Latisse daily. Once your lashes reach the desired length I recommend using it 3-5 times per week for maintenance.

  • In response to highfashionlady - Lumigan and Latisse are identical, with the same risk of side effects, except Latisse is safer because it is applied to the eyelid, not directly in the eye. You actually get more in the Latisse bottle (3 ml vs 2.5 ml) plus you get brushes. The costs are similar. Insurance won't cover either unless you have glaucoma.

  • Latisse is the first FDA approved products used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker for patients having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

  • I am going on my 5th month and my eyelashes are so long it's crazy..btw I am 45 years old...haven't even put mascara on so far...when I do I know they are going to be some of the longest eyelashes on this website.

  • Lumigan and Latisse are chemically identical. Latisse however is LESS expensive and is in a 3 ml bottle vs. a 2.5 ml bottle for Lumigan.

  • Where can you get Latisse?

  • Absolutely use a fine eye liner brush. I have Latisse and a generic. ONE drop is plenty for both eyes. The Latisse package says to use one drop PER eye, but it's too much, IMO. Their applicators are way too big and use too much product. I use a very thin liner brush and one drop is enough for both eyes AND the eyebrows!! This stuff is amazing!

  • can i use LUMIGAN, not latisse, even if i dont have glaucoma?

  • Will this product be available in the UK?

  • Would the effect of long eyelashes go away after stop using this?
