Test run with the Beluga Skysails. This ship uses a kite the help the main propulsion. This should reduce the fuel consumption with 20%!!!

theres a servo unit on the end of the line.
It starts automated and comes in automated. Its completly autonome. It starts from a hydraulic pole that comes out of the bow. No work by the crew needed to use the system.

a1d3a3m7: there's a control unit at the upper end of the line, which (I assume) controls the kite by pulling at various bridle lines.

i dont see how they can steer the kite as it is only one line>????
