  • @Jazzguitar00 this microphone clips more with drums but the levels are fine, actually very similar to the Juju recording.

  • @ShowsOn True, my bad

  • @harbansjoeljr McCoy Tyner played piano and Reggie Workman played bass.

  • @tkdmaster3bd and by the way the original version is on juju :) plus wayne shorters and the piano solo is heavy swing which sure as hell is not rushing, the b part of the head wayne shorter plays with a very relaxed feel...

  • @tkdmaster3bd no doubt they have some great ideas but why is the drum so lound and everybody else so soft? the original tune wayne shorter is wailing that head like no tomorrow, herbie is smashing those blocked chords and I think its ron carter who might be a little laid back on bass, if one person is going to play strong the rest have to listen and pick up on what is happening not just continue on in their own world

  • @harbansjoeljr you obviously have not heard the original version of this song. while the drums are a bit loud, there is nothing in the original tune that indicates a "held back manner". This is actually pretty killin'.

  • dude where is the balance the drums is wayyyy to over bearing for this tune the essence of the song is to be played with a bit of a held back manner the drummer is over powering, the sex is not nearly strong enuff, the bass is in space and piano....what?

  • it looks like they are in a fairly decent sized room being recorded by the mic on the camcorder which usually picks up the drums and not the low end which would explain the loudness of the drums and softness of the bass

  • I don't know if it's the recordings fault or the actual performance, but the drums are way too loud.
