Gomez was clearly winning the fight until he inexplicably decided to stop fighting in the fifth round. Gomez's licence was revoked and a police investigation into corruption followed. Gomez is believed to have been paid a £10,000 bribe to allow McDonagh to win in the 5th round. Gomez also personally placed a large cash bet on McDonagh to win.

Gomez has now been announced as Amir Khan's next opponent

Ok look everyone, how do you know it was for money why he threw the fight? YOU DONT!!!! Ive seen many fighters walk out because of different things. One big reason fighters walk off is because the fight is going no where. When your trying to go up you dont want to be seen as the crap fight. If this was for i title, how many title fights you see that look like crap, not many. Howard you obviously dont know boxing too. Ive boxed with a Golden Gloves and he lived next door to me for 21 years.
