Reached 200 views! Thanks folks.

Again, thisis not really a video - just two images and the song.

Hope you enjoy the song. Feel free to pass on the URL to someone else you think might it enjoy it as well.

This song relates to a story I read a long time ago, about a society of people raised inside of a gigantic wall, deliberately kept in ignorance from the outside except for those few who rebelled and found a way to fly over the wall. The protagonist debates whether captured eagles could boost him over the wall but instead tries a more sophisticated aerial contraption. On escaping, he encounters the teacher who earlier had discouraged his efforts but who now serves as his guide to the outside world. He asks the teacher how he escaped. His answer? "I went out and caught myself half a dozen eagles." Highly implausible, but oddly inspiring! This song is the story that was not told by the original story - the story of the teacher's escape. To the song I added the idea that the teacher was inspired to make his escape by a single falcon flying over the wall. Yes, I know that falcons and eagles are not the same!

Lyrics:
Inside the wall we were taught not to be proud
Not to feel and to never cry out loud
In my world there were only shades of grey
Just one path through a dull world to a grave
Eyes down - don't speak aloud - around us a wall

Falcon flies 'cross the hated wall today
Fill my eyes and my heart begins to break
In the sky is the only thing I need
To say goodbye now to everything I've seen
Few would cry - most would sigh - "let the fool try"

So I took half a dozen eagles and laced them to my arms
And with their help I flew over the wall
And I have seen with my eyes what's beyond the Great Divide
Be not afraid don't let the walls contain you
Let love inflame you

Through the storm they have borne me through the sky
I know joy seeing through the falcon's eyes
And they bring me unto a mountain peak
With the whole world below me now to see
Beneath their wings - I sing - tomorrow brings my journey

I took half a dozen eagles and loosed them to the wind
Someday they may come on back again
An eagle's made for flying like a man is made to roam
Be not afraid don't let the walls contain you
Let love inflame you
