  • stunningly beautiful dogs. I have one of my own.

  • @kodiaksunet "must be docked"? I can't agree with that. Sure they can be beautiful without tails but you're "just" cutting a way to express themselves, can also be used for balance. Breed standards are just a way of ensuring dogs will look a certain way and thus it would be easier to sell the product. I may be wrong but I don't care. I had a "pure" bred dog and that's what made me learn about genetic diseases. Dog's health should matter more than "breed standards".

  • My aussie is able to express herself perfectly fine by shaking her booty uncontrollably. I wish people would not leave negative comments! You're companions are lovely!

  • The Aussie's bobbed tail is natural in most merles. As in, they are literally born without tails. The dogs who are solids (the tri-coloreds) are more likely to be born with tails. It's a recessive genetic trait in Aussies. The tails were originally docked by farmers who were worried about cows stepping on their tales as they herded. True, it's not necessary anymore for people to dock Aussies, but not all Aussies with bob tails have been docked and there's no way to tell just from looking.

  • @persnickety1022 there are aussies with long tails but people like the one with the bob tail more so there are more of them. in 4 weeks i'm going to buy one with a long tail

  • The Blue Merle with the docked tail has a strong resemblance to our beloved Toby who left us a couple of weeks ago after giving us 14 1/2 years of love and devotion. He was an avid frisbee dog, and I have to say - if given the choice, I would have preferred him with his tail intact. Balance, expression and also doing his business without soiling the fur on his backside would have been benefits if he had a tail - any tail.

  • I've never seen an Aussie with a long tail. I had a female that came to us as a stray, whose tail was short. She had seven puppies, all with short tails. The one I have now, I bought at six weeks old, from a breeder. Her parents both had short tails, her tail is short, and her puppies tails were short. All the info that I reseach says they have short tails. But here are videos showing long tails. Weird...

  • oh, beautiful dogs by the way(:

  • so, I went through and read all the comments on here and find it amazing how people say they love the breed, but know nothing about it. I love aussies with ANY length of tail...they are very different in looks from a border collie to me. BC's are more slender. Aussies are more bulky(beautiful bulky!) I just got my 1st aussie about a month or two ago and I love her so much! Shes a blue merle with one blue eye and one brown and a docked tail, but i wouldnt love her any less if it was a full tail(:

  • what a user name

  • Are any of these aussies up for adoption?

  • My pups were born without tails lols but they would be cute with them ;} adorableness urs are soo purty XD
