My brother is autistic and if ppl think that is ok then you are sick...There are other ways to keep them calm, THE TEACHERS NEED TO SIT AND WORK WITH THE DAMN PARENTS.. my brother never acted out till he was forced to do somthing when THEY KNEW he couldnt .. He needed a para pro, one who knows how to handle him/her and is there just for them. What child acts ok when they cant express how they feel? and are with ppl that dont know what to do???

So what are they supposed to do? Let him tear the place apart? Hurt someone?
-
suing for child abuse? are these people fucking mad? It isn't like they beat him. Blown waaaaay out of proportion.
-
only as a last resort. a last resort can not be said enough.
-
thats just so fucked up
-
... it really doesn't look like the teachers are hurting him in ANYway... if anything YES they must hold him down.. to prevent him from hurting himself, and others... this is not abuse. not once do you see the adult HITTING the child....take a clear look.
-
wow. that is horrible

I say the teachers are brave they are doing what they can to control him the child clearly needs to be put in a different facility due to his extreme violent behavior. It would be abuse if staff members were purposely provoking these outburts of violence but they are not. I agree he is mentally challenged and not responsible for his behavior but in no way does it mean staff members should be less agressive when the child is practically winning the 'fight' Staff member safety is important also.

Those teachers are probably so violent because they weren't smart enough to make it as real teachers.

Many kids in special classes and not just autism are abused, neglected and treated egregiously or illegally-I know about this and had some real problems with public schools-I have seen a massive increase in those with authority in many fields over others who are abusive and denigrating...many poorly trained-but also many paid poorly as well-this is endemic in many areas in society lately-out of control-the corruption at the top is creating PROBLEM, REACTION, SOLUTION...Orwellian Doublespeak
there is a lot of things that makes me sick ,this is high on my list ,,pretty sad

I would never use mine or my child's autism as an excuse, if I had been violent in school or if my children were I would expect them to be restrained in some way or other; what this report is saying is the restraining method is physically dangerous in itself to the student and to those using it and as such should only be exercised when absolutely necessary, and that flipping a table is not a threat in the same way that hitting or physically injuring themselves, other students and/or staff is.
