This is a rare Black Forest clock with Monk automata. The monk appears at the top of each hour behind the two double doors. As the clock strikes the bell located on the back of the movement with two hammers... the monks arms pull a rope and the small bell in the upper tower tolls. The case on this clock is made from roots, bark, pine cones and other organic material... a true work of folk art.     Many thanks for explaining the maker, the 2 different types and for showing how this one works.

    Can't wait for your book detailing these clocks which I presume will explain again how they work with pictures.
