I still get freaked out when thinking of dissecting a fetal pig & I dunno' how I'd handle dissecting a kitty. A lot of people will rant at you, yet refuse to spay or neuter their pets, which leads to overpopulation & an endless stream of cats to be killed (euthanasia is for the sick & suffering, not homeless!) & sent to various places to be used to train future vets & some unlucky students. Poor kitty, I can only hope you learned well from it.

Cats that die in shelters are donated instead of burned to schools and veterinary schools to have a last chance at being useful before being thrown out. just like rats, minks, frogs, and weasels, cats make very good dissection subjects due to their size and availability. if people did not use these cats for this purpose, your vets could not save your cats when they need surgery. it is not sick, or wrong, it is education.
