First some corrections from what I said in the video

- The Weatherby is not a vangaurd it's a standard Mark V. From my notes dad got it in the 80's. From the serial number it's probably an 1984. It's stamped made in japan. Oh and while the recoil seemed minor I did feel it some later in the day :)

- The Winchester is a model 94 and is a 1972 vintage

now that thats out of the way :)

had a little fun at the cabin today. This is the first year we get to use rifles during deer season... so we took a little time and did some target shooting... need to spend some more time... I am really good with a shotgun but I have spent no time using large caliber rifles or scopes... need to really step it up a bit... expect to see more as we get closer to deer season....

  • nice the 300 win mags are a bit too much for me, so i went with a 308 :)

  • @rawimpact yeah in the video I said I did not think the recoil was that bad... but later in the day I could still feel those shots... hopefully during deer season I only need one :)

  • how do i find out what year my gun is buy using the serial number

  • Depending on the age of the lever action it may already be tapped to accept a scope. I use a lever action in .35 Remington caliber. The scope is mounted on high rise scope bases. It allows for use of the rifle's sights by looking through the sight base. It does not hinder the ejection of the spent shells.

  • Sweet!

  • that Remington is a pretty gun.

  • missed again! Darn it! He needs a scope on that gun. The 270 is what I like.
