It's time we take a broad look at the state of education in America today. What are our graduation rates? How are our standardized test scores? How well paid are our teachers? Let's take the pulse of our country's education system -- all the way from its kindergartens to its universities. Comparing and contrasting with statistics from other countries, we can see where we fit in on the international scene...and we can begin to think about how to repair education in America.

Damn you Finland and your high test scores and your impenentrable social security net and your snow shoes and your non-failing economy and your low poverty rates and such.

I'm almost 80% positive that if America tried is darndest, they can come out of the propaganda and drug induced stupidity coma. if they just take a moment out of their patriotic rants and look around the world, they MIGHT be able to see that they have work to do to make their country the best. It's just too sad that the children have to suffer for a while before the adults can get their heads on properly. Just look at them, squandering the poor, feeding the rich, hurting the children....

Interestingly enough, Finland's class size is half of that of the US', their children on average get over an hour of recess every day, give their first standardized test when you turn 16 and they keep homework at a minimum. Their teachers are also required to have masters' degrees before teaching.

We pump billions into education, and it doesn't work. It is merely kids not motivated, and the loony liberals dicking around in classrooms.

Oh no, the students are not the one preventing schools to adopt the Finland's method of teaching. It's because of the government. I'm sorry, I know that sounds very vague. I'd give you more information but like this video, I haven't watched it since a year ago.

We are also taught the metric system, but it's not enforced onto us. I also agree that we should switch to the metric system like the rest of the world, but it would take a great amount of money to do it. We'd have to convert all our medical documents, road signs, our mph meter on our cars etc.
