Around one hour after bacteria (Burkholderia pseudomallei) were added to a suspension of amoebae (Acanthamoeba astronyxis) a few bacteria can be seen twirling on the external surface of the amoebic cell. Most have been phagocytosed and are now in soccer ball-shaped bundles or vacuoles inside the amoeba. There are still a few empty vacuoles left.
