CONNIE IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!

I remember admiring these at airports when I was young, but sadly never got to fly in one. I would love to do that someday, but the chances of that are thin to none. Gorgeous aircraft.

We flew the military version as a radar plane in the 50's on the Pacific leg of NORAD;S air defense line. Wonderful plane we never lost one in all kinds of weather from Midway to Adak and return. Thanks for the memories

@slh950 good question.. prob because Boeing and Douglas had the designs the airlines wanted then, the later L-1011 was only modestly sucessful, but like the Connie, a favorite of mine..

@toospeed31 I know, but then they made no commercial planes until the tristar in the early 70's. it was a long time to be out of the game

@slh950 do to the fact that in the late 50's that jet powered commercial aircraft were taking over, lockheed phased out the constellation.

beautiful plane .. why did Lockheed not make any model throughout the whole of the 1960's?
