  • You can buy one for less than 150K easy....but your not going to fly it for that amount. The AD's on the RB211-22B alone is a killer. I'm buying 524's for less than 10K for scrap. Sad :(

  • Not anymore....we sold it for tear down then some museum in Kansas bought it and flew it...you can pick up an L1011-1 for less than 150K. Best airplane I've ever owned. No other airliner will ever be built like an L1011......it's a Lockheed !!!

  • yeah :) and the sound of the RB 211 were just unique :)

I flew my whole childhood with LTU's L-1011s at least 3-4 times a year from 84 to 96 :) when flying was something special :)

everyone took a shower , got his suit or some other special clothing on, and everybody was excited :) And especially you got that bit more legroom and nicer service on board :)

children were allowed to visit the flight deck.....

    daaaammmm.....that was a good time :)

    too sad its over :/

  • @SIXXPK 150k? That's $150,000? How and where in the world might one acquire a former widebody airliner for that small of a sum?

  • Three people to push the thrust levers...??? Really???!

  • the fact that you can buy a piece of engineering like this for half the cost of most houses is shocking but what are the maintenance and fuel costs?

    must be astronomical

  • Incredible...those were the days!

  • Born, lived and died in the DFW Metroplex...Wonderful plane made by a wonderful company...It surely deserved a much kinder fate...1985 R.I.P...

  • Why did you sell it? It looks like its in beautiful condition.

  • So do you own this plane personally? and if so how much does one of these cost?

  • Beautiful engine sound. Very quite. Very Nice.
