Julia & Eyes on Me (Final Fantasy VIII) on piano

This is "Julia" mixed with "Eyes on Me" from Final Fantasy VIII, composed by Nobuo Uematsu.

Whoever played the game will remember that "Eyes on Me" is the full song that Julia Heartilly composed out of her piano solo which goes as "Julia" in the Soundtrack, to express her feelings towards someone. So here I tried to modify and then extend the piano solo with some of the parts that she added in Eyes on Me.

This is my favorite love song :) Yeah I am biased, since I love game music and since I have particularly fond memories of Final Fantasy VIII, but hey, I must say that for me personally, IMHO these two pieces are among Uematsu's most respectable accomplishments. Both the piano solo and the actual song that you get to hear in the game are so perfectly in place and give so much life to the scenes you see, they are unforgettable. Actually hearing the song in the game, at that very unexpected and unusual moment, sung in CD quality, was also one of the biggest PSX era moments for me. Also, major kudos to the writer of the English lyrics, they perfectly describe what is going on in the scenes where you first hear the "Julia" piano solo, and coming up with them is just outstanding (they were apparently not written by Uematsu). It's also interesting because the lyrics and the song itself help you retrospectively realize what is going on many years earlier. This is just another iteration of the unusual way in which Final Fantasy VIII tells its story.

I am not done with this piece and I shall hope to do more versions of this in the future.
