I was a Rex Trailer fan back many years ago. I got a kick out of finding some of his clips here. We got 3 stations in Sandwich when I was there WBZ in Boston, and 2 others, I think channel 7 in those days was Boston also but came in "snowy" The thisd was a New Bedford or Providence station can't remember which. Of all the things I have lost in the past 60 years it is my mind that I miss the most.
I remember him at the Foxboro Company field days. He called kids up on stage, rolled up a newspaper, had the kids hold it in their teeth, then took a bullwhip and whipped the paper out of their mouths. I was 6 years old, in 1960
I'm about to let everyone out there have a good laugh on me. Growing up in the 60's, Saturday morning WAS Rex Trailer on WBZ! Having not seen him in over 45 years I got a bit excited when I found this clip on YouTube. Rex stepped on to the stage, shouted "Howdy Kids", my reflexes took over and without even thinking I shouted back "Howdy Rex" at my computer! (Oh, did I mention there were other people in the room that are never going to let me live this one down) Dave Hadlock, Bullhead City AZ
He is still an amazing man after all these years. I grew up with him in my house every Saturday and Sunday morning. I never missed "Boomtown". I was on the sometime in the 60's. A true icon and hero for his personality and his giving. Thanks to Rex!
