No need to spend the money for adding reverse since its easy enough to mount the chuck on the spindle sticking out of the other side of the motor, assuming you only want it to stand the grain up by sanding in the opposite direction on a turning

Very nice. Thank you for sharing this video.

Excellant Shopsmith video presentation. Thanks for all the references to my rebuilding of the headstock and the reversible motor. I will be happy to answer any Shopsmith questions relating to any work preformed on this beautiful Shopsmith headstock shown in this video.

Wow! What a beauty! Thanks for sharing. One day I will refinish my Greenie, but I use it to often to have it out of service longer than 2 weeks.

Very nice job with the video. I appreciate others showing off the SS. Keep them coming. Very professional job also.
did you repack or replace the bearings? and what difficulty would say replacing the bearings would be?

@jcoronet2000
I replaced the spindle, quill and motor bearings. Sourced from the correct places it is not that expensive but it does require a bearing puller. You will find all the info you need on the Shopsmith User Forum. You have to create a login to see the photos but it is worth it.

@jcoronet2000, I tried to post the links on the Shopsmith Forum for replacing bearings, sources, and part numbers but YouTube won't let me for some reason. If you get on the forum and do a keyword search for bearings, you will find what you need. The guys on the forum are very helpful and very nice.
Do a Google search for "Shopsmith Sawdust Sessions" for videos and manuals on cleaning and restoration.

How do you reverse the direction?

@sniper300mag
Bill Mayo, the gentleman who posted below about references to him rebuilding the motor, installed the reversing switch for the motor. Since the motor controls the rotation of the spindle, reversing the motor reverses the spindle direction. That's as much as I know. Hope this helps.
